Dental Assisting
The Dental Assisting program trains and educates students to be formally trained, competent Dental Assistants. The skills presented are varied and challenging drawing upon interpersonal and technical skills. Focus is put on therapeutic communication to effectively work with patients, dental terminology, anatomy and physiology. Chair-side procedures and model trimming techniques are also a focus of our dental curriculum. Additionally, students will learn the professional techniques of sterilization as well as traditional and digital radiography. Topics of study include dental materials, chair-side procedures, clinical records, dental laboratory procedures, dental anesthesia, and four-handed dentistry techniques. Students receive instruction in the areas of application of dental materials, restorative procedures, prosthodontic procedures, laboratory procedures, preventative measures, oral surgery, and dental office administration.
